Dr. Moira Amado-McCoy - m-mccoy@bayareainclusion.org
Moira Amado-McCoy was born and raised in New Mexico, and although she left a little bit of her heart in the Land of Enchantment, she is happy and proud to be at least a transplanted part of the Gulf Coast community. She received her Ph.D. in English from Miami, Ohio in 2003, and brought her family to Mobile as a new faculty member at the University of South Alabama. Moira's academic specialties include the philosophy of language, gender studies, theories of identity, and the teaching of writing; she has been studying and writing about the issues underlying violence against subjegated populations for the past 20 years. She is the proud mother of two strong and courageous young women. Her full academic vitae (including full published and unpublished manuscripts dealing with gender discrimination and ideologies built on misrepresentations of human sexuality) can be found at www.moiraamado.com
